Some new goodies arrived last night in my Stampin’ Up! order including another Sale-a-bration stamp set that I pre-ordered which goes by the name of Punch Bunch…

I held off ordering this particular set figuring that I would get in during Sale-a-bration but…well, you know me and owls…I just couldn’t wait any longer!

And so out he came today and as I was thinking about how to use him, I came across this week’s Sketch Challenge at Stampin’ Addicts and knew instantly how to use him…

Isn’t he cute?  He is in the set Punch Bunch along with 4 other stamps – and as the name implies, all those 5 images in that set have co-ordinating Punches in the Catalog which makes using them super easy.

I used Basic Black for my card base and layered on a piece of polka dotted Designer Series Paper from the pack Love Letter (pg 173).  I then added a mat of Very Vanilla with Dimensionals and trimmed both top & bottom edges using my Scallop Edge Border Punch

Onto this I layered a piece of Black cardstock that I textured using my Big Shot and Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder.  The moon?  Simply a piece of More Mustard that punched out using my 2 1/2″ Circle Punch which is available in the Occasions Mini Catalog…

I stamped my owl using Early Espresso ink onto Vanilla cardstock and punched him out easily using my Two-step Owl Punch (pg 200)…mmm…and then there’s my branch…

I realised I don’t have any stamps, punches or dies featuring a branch…what to do…I couldn’t think and left to go and pick my girls up from school.  As I came out of the house inspiration was staring at me – a big oak tree!  I snipped a twig off and decided to try it out when I returned home…

So I did and I love how it looks!  And my real branch also provided the perfect thing to tie my sentiment tag on to – it is another stamp from Punch Bunch and I used my 1″ Circle Punch to cut it out, layered it and tied it onto my twig using Linen Thread…click on the photo for a closer look…

During Sale-a-bration you get to pick one free item of your choice for every $50 that you spend on merchandise…and the stamp set Punch Bunch is one of the exclusive items that you can choose and it is CUTE!  You can find more information about Sale-a-bration in my post below.

I love how you used an actual twig as the branch! How did you attach the twig to the card? Thanks for the inspiration:)

Hi Rachelle – I used a couple of Mini Glue Dots that I cut in half – I found the points where the twig touched the card base and placed the half glue dots there – they attached it really firmly :-) Sarah

I love how you use a real twig. The owl punch is my favorite and I too want to get this stamp set.
