I was so sad to see Dress Up Framelits retiring because they have become some of my favorite dies because they have so many uses for cute projects…

So today I wanted to show you how I used washi tape and one of those dies to create a cute bridal shower card.  The tape I used is featured on pg 22 of the Occasions Catalog and is called Watercolor Wonder Designer Washi Tape – LOVE it!

Here is my card…

washi-tape-dress

This was a tricky card to photograph because of that beautiful but highly reflective piece of Gold Foil Sheet that I used as my mat!

The card base…is Whisper White onto which I layered another piece of white cardstock that I textured using the Decorative Dots Embossing Folder…it’s a little hard to see, but the embossing pattern of that folder matches the pattern of that Washi tape on the dress…but say what Sarah?  That Embossing Folder was a Sale-a-bration item and is no longer available for purchase, correct?

Well, yes…but wait for it…it is coming back in the brand new upcoming Annual Catalog so you will get another chance to get it when it debuts in early June – YAY!!!

The dress…isn’t it beautiful?  I used a die from Dress Up Framelits (pg 187) to cut that dress shape out of white cardstock and trimmed it to size…I then took another piece of white cardstock and tore off pieces of tape and laid them out in the pattern I wanted…

And I then positioned my die cut dress on top, using Dimensionals to give that 3-D look…

I used all three patterns of tape in Watercolor Wonder Designer Washi Tape and love how they work so well together – especially that solid piece around the waist separating the two designs!

The gold mat…I wanted to pull the bright gold theme from the sequins into the base of my card and to do so, I matted the dress onto a piece of Gold Foil Sheet (pg 23 Occasions Catalog)…

The sentiment…is from the set Teeny Tiny Wishes (pg 44) and I simply stamped it using Baked Brown Sugar Ink and punched it out using the Word Window Punch (pg 183)

The finishing touch…to add some bling, I added a length of Gold Sequin Trim (pg 23 Occasions Catalog) to resemble a belt across the center of the dress…

I love how it turned out – Washi Tape is so easy & fun to use – I love that you just tear it and can use it in any way you can think of – it is SO versatile!
