Today I have a fun card to show you that houses a cute bookmark that does two jobs – it provides the card’s focal point AND it slides out so that it can be used to mark pages in books…

This card uses a tree stamp from Festival of Trees along with Designer Series Paper & Washi Tape from the Santa & Co collection…

SANTA & CO ITEMS ARE ON SALE IN THE END OF YEAR CLOSE-OUT SALE – DSP is just $7.69 and Washi Tape just $3.49 – find them HERE!

Here is my card…love how those colors give a frosty look…

And this is how it looks when the bookmark part is taken out…that snowy background is cute and easy to do with a piece of patterned paper!

Here is how to make it…for the card base…cut a piece of Whisper White to measure 3″ wide x 11″ long and folded at 5 1/2″.  I then layered on a piece of Marina Mist cardstock sized 5 1/4″ x 2 3/4″.

The bookmark pocket…cut a piece of white cardstock to measure 6″ x 2 1/2″ – score at 1″ up from the bottom edge and fold – secure with staples each side – and voila!  Easy as that!  I used the new Handheld Stapler and Mini Silver Staples (pg 16 Holiday Catalog) on my pocket…

Cut a piece of Designer Series Paper to measure 2 1/4″ x 4 1/2″ and adhere to your panel – I used a festive snowy piece from Santa & Co (pg 29 Holiday Catalog) – you could also use a stamped or embossed background – and then add a sentiment – I used Merry Christmas from the set Making Spirits Bright (pg 48 Holiday Catalog).

The bookmark…is a piece of white cardstock cut to measure 5″ x 2″ – I shaped the top corners using my Paper Trimmer and punched a hole for some twine.

To decorate it, I used blue & green patterned tapes from Santa & Co Washi Tape (pg 29 Holiday Catalog) and stamped a tree using a stamp from Festival of Trees (pg 24 Holiday Catalog) and snowflakes using a stamp from Holiday Home (pg 16 Holiday Catalog).

I threaded through a piece of Natural & Old Olive Two Tone Trim (pg 29) and tied it in place using a piece of Silver Bakers Twine…

The finishing touch…a small snowflake from Frosted Sequins (pg 22 Holiday Catalog) with a small Rhinestone Jewel in the center…
