Today I want to show you the versatility of the holiday set Merry Patterns by using it to create a clean and simple looking Birthday card…

Merry Patterns is the new Host set that is available for free with a qualifying order through October 31st – it features some beautiful festive images along with four stamps that you can use to build a row of candles – which makes it perfect for doing double duty and making birthday cards!

Here is my card…I wanted to keep the design fairly simple so that I can easily make a bunch of them to pop into my card box to have on hand for birthdays coming up over the next few months…

I have a FREE Project Sheet for you that contains the instructions to make this along with photos and the colors I used –  look for the red words below to find it.

Here is a closer look at that row of candles – aren’t they cool?  I stamped the outline using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and the colors I used are Berry Blossom and Bermuda Bay with Daffodil Delight for the flames.  I also added a bit of sparkle to the flames with my Wink of Stella Clear Brush…

I used a die from Layering Ovals to cut them out and that big beautiful die from Happy Birthday Thinlits to create the overlaid words…

I wanted some texture on the background and for this I used the Polka Dot Basics Embossing Folder and wrapped around a piece of Whisper White Classic Weave Ribbon that I tied in three places with Whisper White Solid Bakers Twine to get a ruched look…

You can easily change the colors to create a masculine card or use the favorite colors of the person receiving it – this was fun to make and I am going to be making a few more of these this evening whilst I watch a movie and relax!
