When I first saw the stamp set Holiday Home in the Holiday Catalog I knew I had to have it – and even more so when I saw that is has a set of co-ordinating dies making cutting those houses out a breeze!

AND it is super versatile too as it has stamps for making Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Home cards & projects all in one set!

Find Holiday Home and the co-ordinating Homemade Holidays Framelits on pg 16 of the Holiday Catalog – it is an absolute bargain at just $15.95 for 24 stamps – AND you can buy the stamps & dies in a BUNDLE that will save you 15%!

Today I decided to pick the first holiday that is fast approaching and make a Halloween card…it’s time to get spooky…

I love this color combo – the black & white alone are striking but add in a pop of orange and ‘BAM’ – what an impact!  ALL of the stamps that I used to make this card are from the set Holiday Home – it is simply a fabulous set!

The card base…is simply Basic Black cardstock around which I wrapped a piece of Tangelo Twist 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon (pg 207)  and finished with a bow to the side…

The tag…I stamped the words ‘happy’ and ‘halloween’ and then punched them out using my 1″ Circle Punch (pg 221), threaded through a piece of White Bakers Twine (pg 206) and adhered in place…

The feature panelthe base is a piece of Whisper White cardstock onto which I directly stamped a tree in black ink -I love using the Memento Ink (pg 212) that we now carry – that ink gives you super crisp and defined black images – if you don’t have one of these ink pads yet, I highly recommend it!

The houses…aren’t they adorable?  I wanted to create a spooky silhouette look and so I decided to use Heat Embossing to get those strong defined images – I stamped the houses using Versamark Ink (pg 210), sprinkled on White Embossing Powder and heat set them using my Heat Tool (pg 213)…

I then cut them out using the perfectly co-ordinating house shaped dies in Homemade Holidays Framelits and attached them to my panel using Dimensionals so that they pop out…

SARAH’S TIP:  when using embossing powder it is really important to remove the excess bits that go where you don’t want them BEFORE you set your image using a Heat Tool – I use a small paint brush to carefully brush those bits of powder away from the lines for a perfect result…

The moon…to create this I punched out a circle of Smoky Slate cardstock using my 1 3/8″ Circle Punch (pg 221), stamped some bats onto it and added it to the corner – LOVE this feature!

The finishing touch…I added a cute little pumpkin to the side of the house to pull the orange color into the panel of the card and just love how it turned out!

This is a great CAS card. Love the pops of orange, especially that little pumpkin – so cute. Thank you for the tip on EP, too, I will have to use that the next time I emboss.
