Today heralds the first day of Spring…not that it feels like it in many parts of the country including here in Central Texas!!!

We have lots of rain and misty skies today but I am thinking that all of these showers will be creating some beautiful flowers…and on my walk around the garden this morning (the rain doesnt deter me…must be the English girl in me LOL!!!) I saw lots of signs of spring a-coming…I took some photos and you can find them below…those bright colorful flowers brightened up this dull day…the skies are gray…misty…murky…

But then there are these bright spots…lots of beautiful native spring flowers – we didn’t install an irrigation system out here and so anything that grows here was already here and can naturally survive on very little water & extremely hot temperatures!

We’ve noticed that at this time of the year ALL of the flowers are shades of yellow & purple…must be something to do with attracting the right kind of insects at the right time of year!

AND some of the leaves of the new plants are vibrant green…LOVE how this color signifies fresh new life…you can see it in the lilies coming up here…

And another sign that Spring is here…the Live Oak trees are losing their leaves (we have like a second ‘Fall’ here where the leaves fall off of the oaks – used to drive hubby nuts when we lived in a neighborhood where we had to vacuum them all up twice a year – they stay where they fall out here LOL!!!)…

And my favorite trees…the Red Oaks are budding with their new leaves & tassels…

It’s also been Spring Break this week with the girls home from school, so not a whole lot of crafting got done by me…but I did manage to make some quick & easy thank you note cards to pop into various packages that I will be mailing out during the next month…

Super simple to make and very economical as you get 8 note cards from one sheet of cardstock – each note card is sized at 4 1/4″ x 2 3/4″…

The words…I stamped the sentiments using stamps from this month’s Paper Pumpkin kit called Layers of Gratitude (LOVE those stamps!) and Early Espresso ink…

The bird…is a stamp from the Hostess set Time to Celebrate that you can find in the back of the Occasions Catalog or by clicking HERE – you can get this for free when your order totals $150+ or more!

Wishing you a wonderful and not too snowy or rainy weekend where you are – at least if the weather is frightful you can stay in the warm and stamp!
