Here is a great little coffee themed gift set featuring a card shaped like a coffee travel cup and a folder that pops open to reveal sachets of coffee.

You could add a stick or two of Biscotti, chocolate coated stirring sticks or squares and there is one sweet little treat to make for a teacher, friend or co-worker – just perfect for Mother’s Day, Teacher Appreciation or the end of the school year that is just around the corner…

The belly band slides off of that folder and the lid pops open to reveal three sachets of coffee along with a space to write a note – this folder is designed to hold Starbucks Via sachets that you can find in most grocery and big box stores…

The coffee themed stamp I used is from the Hostess set Slice of Life featured on pg 4 of the Occasions Mini – this stamp set is only available until April 30th after which time it will be retired!

Here is my tutorial so that you can make your very own Coffee Gift Set – at the end of this tutorial you will find a printable version too so that you can print it out and keep it for reference.

To make the Via Coffee Folder:

Cut a piece of cardstock to be 9 1/2″ x 5 1/4″…

Place into your score tool or Paper Trimmer with score blade inserted – with the longest side along the top edge of your trimmer – and score at 1 3/8″, 5 7/8″ and 6″ – shown below by the red arrows…

Turn around so that the shortest side is along the top edge of your trimmer and score at 1″ and 4 1/4″ – shown below by the red arrows…

Cut away the 4 corner sections as shown below (click to enlarge photo)…

Where you see the red arrows below, measure in 1/8″ from each edge and mark with a pencil…

Place in your Paper Trimmer and cut from the end of one of those flaps diagonally up to that pencil mark – and repeat for the other flap so that you have this…

At the other end of those flaps, measure 1/8″ in as shown by the red arrows and trim diagonally away…

Use a Corner Rounding Punch to shape the corners of the bottom end flap and this is what your piece of cardstock should look like…

Fold along all score lines…be careful when folding those two close together and be sure that you get nice crisp folds by using a bone folder…

Turn so that the rounded corners are at the bottom – fold over the two edge flaps and add two pieces of strong adhesive tape such as Sticky Strip to the bottom of each…

Peel off the backing and secure the bottom flap in place…

To make the Belly Band…

This band slides over your folder to hold the top flap in place.

Cut a piece of cardstock to be 7 3/4″ x 1 1/4″ – if you wish to have a wider band, cut the width to be 1 1/2″ or 2″.

Place into your score tool or Paper Trimmer with score blade inserted – with the longest side along the top edge of your trimmer – and score at 1 1/2″, 1 3/4″, 5″ and 5 1/4″…

Fold along all score lines and wrap around your folder to check positioning…be sure that it is not too snug so that it will slide off and on freely.

When you are happy with the placement of it, use a piece of Sticky Strip to adhere one end of your band to the other.

Finally take 3 Via coffee sachets and pop them inside.

Decorate as wished!

I used Early Espresso for my folder base and added a layer of Soft Suede that I textured using my Big Shot and Square Lattice Embossing Folder.  I added a scalloped border made using my Scallop Trim Border Punch and put three cute Pearls on the bottom part.

My Belly Band is made using Whisper White cardstock onto which I added a piece of polka dotted paper from the In Colors Patterns Designer Series Paper Stack.

I stamped my image using a stamp from the Occasions Mini Hostess set Slice of Life, colored it in, punched it out using my Extra-Large Oval Punch and added it to my band using Dimensionals.

Inside I added a piece of cardstock stamped with another image and left space for writing a note – I layered it onto a piece of Peach Parfait cardstock and added some more cute polka dotted paper…

To make the Coffee Travel Cup Card:

Cut a piece of cardstock to be 11″ x 4″ and score in the center at 5 1/2″…

Fold in half facing towards you.

Measure down from the left top edge (score line) 1/2″ and make a pencil mark – repeat for the other side.

Measure in from the left bottom edge by 1/2″ and make a pencil mark – repeat for the right side – join those lines like so…

And using your Paper Trimmer, cut along those diagonal lines – and this is what you will have.

To make the top trim take a piece of White cardstock and cut it to be 2 1/2″ x 4 1/4″.

Using a Corner Rounding Punch shape the top two corners.

Place into your score tool or Paper Trimmer with score blade inserted – with the shortest side along the top edge of your trimmer – and score a line down at 1/4″ in from the edge with square corners – and this is what you will have…

If desired, you can cut a piece of decorative paper to fit onto your cup – I used the same DSP that I used on my Via folder – simply use your cup shape as a template to cut your patterned paper.

Adhere your white top trim to the top edge of your card using Sticky Strip – add the sticky tape to the cup base as your trim will overhang slightly at each end.

To make the ‘cardboard sleeve’ cut a piece of cardstock to be 4 1/2″ x  2 1/4″ – and run it through your Paper Crimping Tool to get that concertina look…

Now cut it to be 4″ wide and place onto your cup – to trim it to size, make two pencil marks at the bottom edge each side, as shown by the red arrows below…

Trim to size using your Paper Trimmer and adhere to your card base…

And add decorative finishing touches as wished…

I used the same stamped image that I used on my folder and also added some Pearls for a touch of luxury.  My card base is Crumb Cake and my sleeve is Soft Suede…

Isn’t it cute?  I love how it turned out – what a great and economical little gift set for the coffee-lovers out there!
