My wonderful mother-in-law is a big quilter and so I was inspired to make a quilt card for her recently – it uses my favorite Bella Rose Designer Series Paper which lends itself so well to this design as lots of the papers have a fabric-like pattern to them…and I used the stamp set Quilt Quips (pg 53)…
Bella Rose is still available right now but is on the Last Chance Accessories List and once it is sold out, it is gone for good – if you want to stock up, you can order it by clicking HERE
The base of the card is Riding Hood Red which is 5 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ – I took a piece of pink patterned paper from Bella Rose and cut it to size and used my Paper Piercing Tool and a ruler to make the holes for my stitching – I then hand stitched it using brown embroidery floss. I made a border for the quilt using a brown polka dotted piece of DSP.
I used Chocolate Chip Ink to stamp my images and colored them in with Watercolor Wonder Crayons and a Blender Pen. I cut them to size and mounted them onto little pieces of Chocolate Chip cardstock. I then cut other squares to size from other papers from Bella Rose and adhered them all in place.
I made a band across the center using Chocolate Chip and Riding Hood Red cardstocks onto which I added a piece of Chocolate Chip 5/8″ Grosgrain Ribbon. I stamped my sentiment using a stamp from Bella Blossoms (on the Last Chance Stamp Sets List) onto a piece of Textured Pink Pirouette cardstock and adhered it to the ribbon, adding a Jumbo Grommet and piece of ribbon from Ribbon Originals (also on the Last Chance Accessories List) in the center – I love how that ribbon co-ordinates with the quilt border.
Finally I added a few finishing touches – some buttons from Button Bouquet, a brown flower rub-on from Planter Box and a Pink Micro Bead…I love how it turned out – I hope she likes it :-)
