With Easter weekend upon us, I wanted to show you a card that I made that features a large Cross as the focal point…

I didn’t have a stamp set that features a Cross and so I decided to make my own using cardstock and an embossing folder which was fun & easy to do…

And this how my card turned out…

The card base…is Very Vanilla onto which I layered a piece of Soft Suede, and then a piece of Strawberry Slush…

The vanilla top layer…I wanted to create an embossed border and to get this look I used the Framed Tulips Embossing Folder (pg 191) and then trimmed it to size.

The cross…I cut two sections out of Soft Suede and to get a wood-like look, I textured them using the Woodgrain Embossing Folder (pg 190) and then added both pieces to the base using Dimensionals.

I then criss-crossed some Linen Thread (pg 173) around the center of the cross and finished with a bow…

The colorful flowers…I wanted to add some dashes of color and what could be more Easter-like than flowers!  And so I punched out a bunch of flowers using the small flower punch that you can find in Itty Bitty Punch Shapes Pack (pg 180) and the colors Wisteria Wonder, Primrose Petals and Crisp Cantaloupe – and then I added a Rhinestone Jewel (pg 171) to the center of each, pulled the petals upwards using my fingers for some definition (and incidental texture!), and dotted them around the cross…

The sentiment…is from the stamp Blessed Easter (pg 20 Occasions Catalog) that I stamped using Soft Suede ink…I then punched it out using the 1 3/4″ Circle Punch (pg 182) and added it to my card using Dimensionals and added a cute flower onto it to continue the flowers winding their way down the cross…
