Have you seen this month’s awesome Paper Pumpkin Kit?

You can make the cards as they were designed to be made by Stampin’ Up! OR you can have some fun and play with the kit contents to see what else you can make – also known as Alternative Projects!

These are the cards as they were designed to be made – CLICK HERE to find my blog post detailing them:

And here are the Alternative Projects that I came up with using the supplies contained in this month’s Kit – there are three cards and one tag.

I always struggle with Valentine themed kits because I don’t need that many cards for that occasion!  So I decided to use the contents of this kit to create cards for occasions other than that – below you will find a card you could use for a Birthday or Mother’s Day or any other celebration and a Wedding card with matching gift tag…

Card 1: Birthday Card – this would also make a beautiful Mother’s Day card or wedding/engagement card…

I used the card base and lines of white die cut hearts from the kit – then I used stamps from Cake Celebrations to stamp the cake, stand, sentiment and flowers – I used these ink colors:  Pretty in Pink, Flirty Flamingo, Bubble Bath, Granny Apple Green and Gray Granite.

I used a die from Stylish Shapes Dies to cut out the circle layer and a die from Delicate Forest Dies to cut out the sentiment layer.

I used dies from Cake Celebrations Dies to cut out the stamped flowers and leaves and added them with Glue Dots and Mini Dimensionals finishing with an Antique Pearl for the flower centers.

Card 2 – Wedding Card:

I used the red striped card base and white hearts  printed & die cut layer and pink heart embellishment from the kit – then I used stamps from Classic Wedding to stamp the car and sentiment – I used these ink colors:  Memento Black for the outline and Real Red as the fill color with Gray Granite for the sentiment.

I then used Stampin’ Blends in the colors Smoky Slate, Real Red, Balmy Blue and Basic Black to color the accents on the car.  I die cut the car, roses & stems using dies from Classic Wedding Dies  and used some of the marbled pieces from the kit to give the roses some texture.

I then decided to make a coordinating gift tag:

I used the tag die from Merry Tags & More Dies to cut out a tag using a card base from the kit – I then layered a variety of hearts from the kit and added a stamped sentiment from the set Classic Wedding

I added a few more die cut roses and a length of Twisted Gold Thread at the top along with a pink heart embellishment from the kit…

Card 3 – Love Card:

For this card I used a Basic White Thick Cardstock base and cut a layer from the striped card base in the kit and then I added the white printed layer with the gold edging and the printed heart.

I then die cut a scalloped heart shape out of Gold Foil using a die from Spring is in the Air Dies and glued it in place.  The sentiment is created using a die from The Love of Spring Dies from the same paper and I wrapped around a piece of Twisted Gold Thread and finished with a bow in front.

SARAH’S TIP: I always order myself an EXTRA KIT so that I can use one to make the cards as designed and I have another to experiment and play with!
