My card today incorporates a fun material that is so easy to use…wood!
Stampin’ Up! sells beautiful Wood Sheets that gives your projects an authentic wood look – you can find them on pg 216 of the Catalog & the sheets are made of thin Birch wood that you can die cut, emboss & stamp on – they are easy and fun to use…
I decided to use some today because I wanted to incorporate a wood look into my Thanksgiving card filled with leaves…
I love the look of this card – my card base is made using Cajun Craze cardstock and onto it I layered a piece of Early Espresso that I textured using my Big Shot & Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder…
I then took a bit of Wood Sheet & ran it through my Big Shot using the fabulous Top Note Die to get this gorgeous shape…it cuts through that wood like a knife through butter!
I then wrapped around a piece of Natural Hemp Twine (pg 194) three times and tied a knot at the side – and added my die cut Top Note wood shape to my card using Dimensionals.
Aren’t those leaves just gorgeous?
SO easy and fun to make – I stamped them onto Very Vanilla cardstock using stamps from the set Gently Falling that you can find on pg 16-17 of the Holiday Mini Catalog…
The inks that I used are Cajun Craze, Soft Suede, Chocolate Chip & Early Espresso – and then I cut them out using my sharp Paper Snips…click on the photo below for a larger view…
Not got Paper Snips? You need them! They are perfect little scissors with razor sharp tips that make cutting intricate shapes easy – you get a very professional finish when you use them and you can find them on pg 208 of the Catalog or by clicking HERE
I added my leaves using Dimensionals to my wood shape – I used a double layer of Dimensionals for the maple leaf to lift it above the lower leaf.
That sentiment? From my other favorite set for this time of year – Day of Gratitude that you can find on pg 28 of the Catalog – I simply stamped it & punched it out using my Extra Large Oval Punch and added it to my card.
Those Wood Sheets? You can find them on pg 216 of the Catalog or by clicking HERE to view them in the online store – they measure 13 3/4″ x 5 3/4″ and you get a pack of 4 of them for $9.95
That stamp set Gently Falling features beautiful leaves – you can stamp them as I did or you can do some two-step stamping and stamp the co-ordinating leaf vein stamps on top of them.
Here are the images included in that set – it comes in both clear & wood mount versions and you can find it on pg 16-17 of the Holiday Mini Catalog or in the online store by clicking HERE

Absolutely beautiful! I may actually have to buy those wood sheets and give it a try.
Thanks for sharing this card – it’s the first that I have seen using this wood….the leaves could almost be falling down the tree trunk!
