Well apparently I just can’t get enough of the cute stamps featured in Hey Valentine – in fact this is the third project in a week I’ve made using them – LOVE them all!
Today I am showing you a ‘keep it simple’ Valentine treat – it is quick, easy AND cost effective AND you can make a bunch of them in no time making them great for kids to hand out at school – and the kids could even color in the image themselves!
Here they are…
To be honest I would have made more, except that I couldn’t help but eat a bunch of the M&Ms LOL and quickly ran out…what can I say…I love chocolate…and I love cherry flavored things…put those two together and they disappear fast!
The candy filled bag…the bag is a self-sealing, food safe Cello Tube Bag sized at 1″ x 8″ that you can find on pg 200 of the catalog or online by clicking HERE – a pack of 50 will cost you JUST $2.50 making this a very affordable way to give treats! I popped some Cherry M&Ms in mine (I found them at Target) – you can alternate colors or use just one color in a tube – I have done both to give you an idea of what looks you can get…
Other items that fit nicely inside this size bag include jelly beans, candy corn, smarties and pencils – it is fun seeking out what to put inside!!!
The bird tag…isn’t it cute? This is a stamp from the set Hey, Valentine (pg 8 Occasions Catalog) that you fold in half – you can use this to put at the top of your tube and it fits perfectly, or you can use it as a wrap like I did for my treats.
This is the stamped image…and to make cutting it out quick & easy, there is a perfectly sized banner die that you can find in Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Dies (pg 9 Occasions Catalog) – once stamped & cut out, you fold along that center line and voila – the perfect treat topper/wrapper!
I used Memento Black Ink to stamp the image and colored in the bird using Blendabilities Markers from the following assortments: Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake and Skin Tone – find them all on pg 212 of the Annual Catalog…
To attach the tags…I used Glue Dots to attach my tags to the tubes – if you decide to add these to the top of the tube instead, you can also use a staple which also looks pretty cool!
Here is a side view so that you can see how it is attached…I put glue dots on each side of the tube and pressed the tag into place so that it straddles the candy…the glue dots hold it firmly in place…
And here is the back…LOVE those cute little hearts…
The finishing touch…you can keep em simple and leave them as they are or you can bling the bags & tags up a bit…I added a piece of White Cotton Twine (pg 37 Occasions Catalog) to the top of one tag and left the other two as is…you could also punch out some red hearts…use ribbon…rhinestones…whatever your heart desires!
