I loved the punch spiders so much that I decided to create a few more critters to hold treats for Halloween…
They are sooo easy and fun to make and only use a little cardstock each but the results are fab – all of the oval critters have a Hershey Nugget inside and the little snake has a tube of Smarties underneath him – they are sure to bring smiles :-)
I used the new Wide Oval Punch to make the main bodies for the critters out of Basic Black cardstock – for the eyes I used the 1/2″ and 1/4″ Circle Punches and I used the 1/4″ Square Punch to make the bird’s beak and the snake’s forked tongue.
I used my Horizontal Slot Punch to make the legs of the bugs and the tongue of the snake. The fly’s wings are made of Vellum Cardstock and I used my favorite Scallop Border Punch to make the tail for the mouse and the wings of the bird. The other colors of cardstock that I used are Kiwi Kiss, Tangerine Tango, Real Red and Whisper White.
I have just finished up some little spooky lollipop toppers which you can see here:
Again, these use punches of all different sizes. I found the lollipops at Party City – they are great as they have really long plastic sticks that you can cut down to make an arrangement – and they sell for 33c each so are a great price. If you want to skip the candy this halloween you could use the little characters to decorate the tops of pencils instead :-)
It is hard to capture the ‘bandaging’ detail of the white mummy character – I punched the oval body out of a piece of white cardstock and then cut out strips using my Word Window punch – I attached them in an overlapping way to the oval and then trimmed the edges to give a bandage effect.
Aren’t they cute? :-)
Are you sick of hearing from me? These are just fabulous! I am totally jealous (in a good way) of your creativity. I just love all of these. And the use of vellum for wings is such a good idea!
