You can make super cute Metal Snowflakes from empty soda cans – how cool is that?

They make beautiful hanging ornaments on a tree or on a window…you can use them to decorate your gifts…and they make lovely additions to banners and wreaths…

This makes me so happy as I can take these cans from my recycling bin and make beautiful holiday ornaments using them -you can showcase them on that beautiful shiny silver metal that is inside the cans…

Or you can turn them over and display them with the soda can images on the front – depending on the type of soda can you use, you can get many different colors & designs.

Here is one of those snowflakes that i made with it’s silver side showing…

And when Christmas is over, if I dont want to keep them then I will pop them back into that recycling bin – how cool is that?

So how do you make them? Simply by using the Big Shot, the Snowflakes #2 Die, Craft & Rubber Scissors or tin snips and a soda can of your choice.

Here is my tutorial so that you can make your very own beautiful Metal Snowflakes – at the end of this tutorial you will find a printable version too so that you can print it out and keep it for reference.

Take your soda can of choice – regular size or even the skinnier ones work well too like my 8 oz Cranberry Juice can below – and take your Craft & Rubber Scissors (you can find them on pg 208 of the Catalog) or tin snips that you can find in hardware stores…

Take your Craft & Rubber Scissors and cut from the pull tab hole down the side of the can…being VERY careful not to cut yourself on the sharp edges as you go…

And then cut the top & bottom of the can away…

And this is what you will have…

Discard the top & bottom pieces and make sure that your can is clean and dry…

Take your Snowflake #2 Orginals Die – this is what it looks like…

And place it into your Big Shot on top of your cutting pad.  Roll out your can to flatten it onto your die…

And place your second cutting pad on the top (these cutting pads are included with your Big shot)…

Run it through your Big Shot and when you remove the top cutting pad this is what you will see…

Remove it and there you have a beautiful Metal Snowflake.

Here are two of my beautiful Silver ones…

If you prefer you can show the front of the can that is colorful – you will find that you can get all different colors with different brands & types of sodas…

Aren’t they pretty?  I am going to make a bunch more to dress up my holiday gifts for a cute embellishment.
