This morning I was in the grocery store and picked up a bag of candy corn…the colors are a perfect representation of the current season and so I decided to use them to make an autumn themed card.
My card is very clean & simple and uses oranges, yellows and white and the fabulous two-step Owl Punch that you can find on pg 200 – I love using pieces of Designer Series Paper with this punch because it gives great texture making that owl look sooo adorable…
For my colors I chose Early Espresso, Peach Parfait, More Mustard, So Saffron and of course Whisper White…I used Designer Series Papers from the In Colors Patterns pack (pg 175) for my owl’s body and the polka dotted background piece is from Play Date DSP (pg 175)…
The branch my owl is sitting on is a stamp from the set Cheep Talk (pg 120) and I used Markers to color & stamp it…my sentiment is from the set Hello Again (pg 110) and I punched it out using two sizes of Oval Punch (pg 202), adding a cute button from the Neutrals Designer Buttons pack (pg 186).
I finished off with Early Espresso 5/8″ Grosgrain Ribbon onto which I layered some Taffeta Whisper White (pg 191) and scalloped my white mat using the Scallop Edge Punch and added cute holes using my Paper Piercing Tool (pg 198-200)…I used Dimensionals on my owl, sentiment and polka dot mat to give some depth and interest, as you can see from the photo below…
And there you have one hootingly cute card! Have a wonderful rest-of-your Sunday and be on the look out for what might inspire your next card…it’s a great way to put some fun into your creating…
