Now brights are not colors I work with very often…I don’t know why…I don’t seem to gravitate towards bright colors when paper crafting…

So today I decided to challenge myself to use some of my Brights stash to make a fun birthday card – I kept it simple and put some black in for good measure…

The cute row of cakes?  That is a stamp from the level 1 hostess set Birthday Bakery on pg 10 of the catalog – isn’t it cute?  You can get that set for free with an order of $150+…

I used the Brights colors Melon Mambo and Tempting Turquoise – I textured my Melon Mambo layer by running it through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder…love those polka dots…

I cut a piece of Tempting Turquoise and edged it using my Scallop Trim Border Punch – I attached a layer of black and then wrapped around a piece of Whisper White Taffeta Ribbon – I then attached these layers to my card using Dimensionals.

I stamped my row of cakes using Stazon Black ink and colored them in using my Watercolor Wonder Crayons & Blender Pen – I attached it to my card again using Dimensionals.

My happy birthday stamp?  You can find it in the set Party This Way – I stamped it and punched it out with my Oval Punch and attached it to my base…

And there is one bright and happy birthday card guaranteed to bring a smile!

I challenge you to move out of your comfort zone and create a card using colors that you wouldnt usually use…you might be surprised and find colors in your stash that become new favorites.

Lovely card – I haven’t quite decided if I like the melon mambo, but this color combination is just right! And this layout is perfect for these long stamps; I have several older SU sets that this will work nicely with. Thanks!
