I love the chalkboard look and decided to make a simple card using this effect along with a beautiful stamp that features a row of vases in the Occasions Catalog…

The stamp is called Vivid Vases and you can find it on pg 20 – it is a single stamp and it is fabulously versatile because you can use it for multiple occasions and also with different techniques – watercoloring, paper piecing and simply stamping it are a some of the options…

My card today is simple and I love how it turned out…

I love what a strong look this is and it is so fun & easy to do…

The card base…is a piece of Basic Black onto which I layered a piece of Whisper White.

The flowers in vases…are stamped using the stamp Vivid Vases – I used Whisper White Craft Ink and stamped it directly onto a piece of Black cardstock…now this stamp is a single stamp but underneath those vases it also has a sentiment – I did not want this sentiment on my card and so I used masking tape to block it out…

How do you do that?

Take the stamp you wish to use – in my case, it is Vivid Vases…

And then put a piece of masking tape over the part of the stamp you do not wish to use – for me, it was the sentiment along the bottom…

maskingtape2

And then ink up your stamp – I used Whisper White Craft Ink – and don’t worry if the ink gets on the masking tape – it did on mine below…

Because when you peel off that tape, you have clean rubber underneath…

So when you stamp your stamp onto your cardstock, there is only ink on the part you want to use thus only the image you want is stamped – simple as that!

The polka dotted paper…I used a strip of patterned paper from Kaleidoscope DSP (pg 27 Occasions Catalog) – I absolutely love the splash of color that it brings to this card…

The ribbon…I wrapped around a piece of Whisper White 1/4″ Grosgrain (pg 173) and finished with a knot in front…

The tag…I used the ‘thanks’ stamp from Fabulous Phrases (pg 70) and punched it out using my Small Oval Punch (pg 182) and added it using Dimensionals…

The finishing touch…I decided to punch a small hole in the top of that tag and thread through a piece of White Bakers Twine (pg 173) and finished by tying it to my knot…

The first thing I thought of was how cool would it look “scribbling” some colored chalk onto those vases! Hmmmm, I may just have to buy this stamp after all!
    Thanks for sharing!
