Today I wanted to show you another quick & easy treat that would be perfect for batch making for back to school teacher gifts…
It uses the fab Wood Crate die – have you seen it? If not, you can find it in the Wood Crate Framelits Dies on pg 212 of the Annual Catalog or by clicking here – this is the most fantastic and versatile set of dies that you can use to make favors or treats for any event simply by changing the color of cardstock that you use to build it.
So here is my treat…simple…easy to put together…and tasty…
I have a Project Sheet for you below detailing all measurements, the colors I used & full instructions on how to make this card below – just look for the red words to find it…
Lets take a closer look at it…I have seen lots of beautiful crates around the web that are made with textured embossing, wood effect DSP and stamping BUT I wanted to show you just how awesome this crate looks simply cut out of colored cardstock – plus it makes for affordable treat making too…
You literally cut two pieces of cardstock using the Wood Crate die and attach them together with strong adhesive tape such as Fast Fuse – and then your basic crate is ready for decorating & filling! This is PERFECT for times where you want to make a bunch of treats (such as for back to school) but don’t have or want to spend hours & hours decorating and assembling them.
So to begin with, I made a batch of chocolate chip cookies and popped a couple of them into a food safe cello bag and added a topper made of ribbons and die cuts…
I used Cherry Cobbler 1/4″ Double Stitched Ribbon for the bow, some Mini Gold Sequin Trim for a bit of bling & sparkle, and Very Vanilla Solid Bakers Twine to hang some stamped hearts on to – I used a textured heart shaped stamp from Wood Words to stamp those two hearts and cut them out using another die from Wood Crate Framelits…
I used Soft Suede cardstock for my crate and I stamped my label using a stamp from Label Me Pretty and cut it out using it’s coordinating Pretty Label Punch – and I added two little gold hearts from Metallic Enamel Shapes at each end…
Here’s a birds eye view of how nicely that bag of cookies fits into the crate…to give you an idea of the cookie size, they are about 2 3/4″ in diameter…and some did get eaten in the making of this (big smile!)…
This was super fun & fast to put together – and now I have many more ideas rolling around in my head on how I can use this fab Wood Crate die for the upcoming holiday season – if you don’t have this set of dies, you might want to get it – just saying :-)
