Summer Pinwheel Fun…

Wow did Summer land here in Central Texas – yesterday we hit 103 and it’s only early June!!!

This put me in a summer mood and so I decided to make a fun pinwheel themed card and went looking for some fun summery papers – I found just what I was looking for in my pack of Sunny Garden DSP

You can find this pack of beautiful papers on pg 174 of the Catalog and it co-ordinates perfectly with the Cottage Garden stamp set that is featured on pg 107 – but if you want some of this paper you need to hurry – it is on the Last Chance List and is only available whilst stocks last – click HERE to order yours before it’s too late!

My card base color is Pear Pizzazz onto which I added a layer of Poppy Parade that I textured using my Big Shot and Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder…

I then layered on a stripey piece of patterned paper from Sunny Garden DSP and a put a little piece of Peach Parfait on top, the edge of which I shaped using my Scallop Edge Border Punch – and then wrapped around a piece of Pear Pizzazz 1/2″ Stitched Poly-Ribbon…

I then added a central panel of yellow patterned paper, again from Sunny Garden DSP – this creates a beautiful background for the main feature of this card…that GORGEOUS pinwheel…

And that pinwheel is made – yes, you guessed it – entirely from papers found in Sunny Garden DSP – isn’t it beautiful?  I had NO idea how much I like this paper until I used it for this card – I just ordered me some more so I can make a bunch more of them!

At the center of the pinwheel I layered two buttons from Brights Designer Buttons and added a bow using White Bakers Twine that you can find on pg 10 of the Summer Mini Catalog.

The stick? I picked up a pack of 4″ Lollipop Sticks by Wilton that I found in Walmart – they were around $1 for 50 and you can also find them in large craft stores – I attached my pinwheel using a large glue dot and then secured it to my card base.

My sentiment? Is from the RETIRING Hostess set Apple Blossoms that you can find on pg 12 – it is a very cool and versatile set but you only have until June 30th to earn it after which it’s gone for good!

And lastly I cut out a couple of flowers from DSP and added a little Pearl into the center of each and added them to my card using dimensionals for a cute finishing touch.

This was a VERY fun card to make – my girls are fascinated with these pinwheels and want to make their own – and I am now addicted to making them – they are so fun and cute!
