Simple, Bright & Fun…

I hope you enjoyed a wonderful Easter weekend with friends & family…

We did and now here in Central Texas it really is beginning to warm up and we’ve even had some springtime showers – the best bit about that is that the wildflowers are out and in full bloom which we missed last year because of the lack of rain – and this makes me realise that summer is just around the corner…

And so that made me want to make a bright fun colorful card and I found the PERFECT stamps and papers to use in the Summer Smooches collection…

I love to use bright colors on a plain white background because it really makes them ‘pop’…

My card base is simply Whisper White cardstock onto which I layered another piece – I shaped the bottom edge of that layer using my Scallop Trim Border Punch to give some definition and mounted it onto my card base using Dimensionals.

Onto that layer I added a piece of patterned paper from Summer Smooches DSP – using patterned papers is a great low-cost way to get feature & texture onto a card…

I then decided to stamp a vase full of flowers above it – I found the perfect stamps in the new set Bright Blossoms and used the following colors of Markers to color & stamp my images:

• Blue – Island Indigo
• Green – Lucky Limeade
• Purple – Rich Razzleberry
• Red – Real Red
• Yellow – Daffodil Delight

And of course those colors match the patterned paper strip below PERFECTLY – that is what I so love about Stampin’ Up!’s cardstocks, papers & inks – they make it SO easy to get perfectly co-ordinated results!

If you are a new stamper, Markers are a great way to go – they are almost half the price of ink pads and you can color your rubber stamps using them – they are a great low-cost way to try out those colors – and then you can invest in the ink pads in the colors you love…

Finally I added a sentiment from the set Fabulous Phrases (pg 163) and there is one bright and fun card just perfect for those hot summer days ahead…
