Showcasing Wonderfall Tea Lace Doilies and Expressions Thinlits Dies…

Did you ever think of using Tea Lace Paper Doilies on your Fall & Holiday themed cards or projects?

I hadn’t until I came across them in my embellishments stash today and my light bulb went off!!!  If I cut out the center using a circle punch or die, I thought that these could make very cute wreaths – and they do!

I decided to use these Doilies in conjunction with the Expressions Thinlits Dies that you can find on pg 36 of the Holiday Catalog – that set contains three beautiful word script dies and in the spirit of versatility, I used all of them and made THREE CARDS for you to show you how these plus the doilies can be used year round!

Here are those three cards…

The first card that I made has a Fall/Thanksgiving theme – click on the photo below for a larger view…

The card base…is Early Espresso onto which I layered a piece of Crumb Cake – this gives a simple background for my strong images…

The doily…is from Tea Lace Paper Doilies – you get a pack of 32 of these for JUST $2.95 making them a great deal – you can find them on pg 156 of the Catalog or in the online store by clicking HERE

I used a die from Circles Collection Framelits to cut out the center circle and added it to my card base using Mini Glue Dots – these allow you to add something small or intricate without the adhesive showing through – LOVE them!

The leaves…I used stamps from the set Wonderfall to stamp my leaves in Cajun Craze and Crushed Curry inks – did you know that this set has a perfectly co-ordinating set of dies that makes cutting those stamped images out easy?  It is called Autumn Accents Bigz Die (pg 192)  and is on sale for JUST $16.46 (reg $21.95) through TOMORROW MONDAY 11th – click HERE to find it and hurry to get yours at this fab price!

The sentiment…is made using a die from Expressions Thinlits  – I used the ‘thankful’ die to die cut that phrase from Early Espresso cardstock and used my Glue Pen to apply glue to the back of it and adhered it to a textured strip – I love that you can literally draw the glue onto where you want it with that glue pen – it makes it so easy to glue things like this die cut image!

Sarah’s tip – when using those Expressionlits Thinlits always put a layer of Wax Paper between your die and the cardstock that you are going to die cut – this makes for a very easy release of the letters after die cutting!

The textured strip…is simply a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock that I textured using the Woodgrain Embossing Folder (pg 190) and I attached it to the base using Dimensionals to make it pop out.

Finishing touch…I added a small bow made using Linen Thread to the stem of one of the leaves…

The second card that I made is a contemporary Holiday Card

I think that this is my favorite – I love clean & simple cards with strong colors and this is just that!

The card base…is simply Real Red onto which I layered a piece of Old Olive…and then I added my Tea Lace Doily using Mini Glue dots.

The sentiment…is of course another die from Expressions Thinlits and I cut it out of Real Red – I wanted to add it directly to my card base but it didnt stand out enough…it just needed a little something extra…so I got to thinking about how to do it and decided upon gluing it to a piece of Window Sheet (pg 156) also known as acetate or transparency sheets – this gave me that little extra glitz I was looking for!

The leaves & berries…I wanted to show you that you can use autumn themed sets for more than fall projects – and so to make my contemporary holly leaves, I used a stamp agaom from Wonderfall to stamp them in Old Olive and punched out 3 red dots using a 1/4″ Circle Punch and finished with a little knot tied from Silver 1/8″ Ribbon (pg 28 Holiday Catalog) – LOVE how they turned out!

LOVE how this came out – I am going to be making a bunch more of these soon!

And my third card features the remaining die in Expressions Thinlits

The card base…is Strawberry Slush onto which I layered a piece of Raspberry Ripple – you can see that on this card I cut a doily down to give a different look…

The sentiment…is again from Expressions Thinlits and I matted onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  On the side I added a cute bow made from Strawberry Slush Ruffled Ribbon (pg 173)…

The heart…is die cut using a die from Hearts a Flutter Framelits (pg 187) and textured using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder (pg 191) and added using Dimensionals

Aren’t they all cute?  I love how versatile so many of our products are – and I love finding out more ways to use what I already have!
