To find out details of what my Holiday Card Challenge is about please look to the end of this post – EVERY participant who takes part & emails a card to me gets a freebie in the mail and you never know, you might be the weekly winner and get a fab prize – so it’s worth joining us!

AND the winner of the last week’s Holiday Card Challenge is at the end of this post so please read on to find out who it was!

Sooo…what am I challenging you to use this week?  This week I am challenging you to use Snowflakes…stamped, glittered, die cut, paper ones…any will do!

I made the Snowflakes on my card using one FABULOUS die that features three of them…the Snow Flurry Bigz Dieand then used some gorgeous glittery paper to make them look amazing…

This card was designed by a very talented Australian demonstrator called Claire Daly – I loved her card so much I just had to make my own!

My card base is Cherry Cobbler and onto it I stamped my sentiment using a stamp from More Merry Messages (pg 15 main Catalog) – I stamped it in Versamark and heat embossed it using Fine Silver Embossing Powder.

Not sure how to use Embossing Powders or need a refresher on how to Heat Emboss?  Click HERE to find my FREE printable step-by-step tutorial – don’t worry – it’s alot of fun to do and adds a real wow factor to your cards & projects!

I then made various layers out of squares of cardstock:

  • Bottom – Green Gumball sized 2 3/4″ square
  • Middle – Silver Glimmer Paper (pg 160) sized 2 5/8″ square
  • Top – Cherry Cobbler sized 2 1/2″ square

That top Cherry Cobbler layer was dry embossed using my Big Shot and the Lacy Brocade Embossing Folder that you can find on pg 6 of the Holiday Catalog.

That is the card base done – quick, easy and effective…

Those Snowflakes…aren’t they gorgeous?  So quick & easy to make using the Big Shot and Snow Flurry Bigz Die that is featured on pg 14 of the Holiday Catalog…

This die has three different shapes & sizes of snowflakes – use each separately or layer them together – they stack on top of one another absolutely beautifully as you can see here…

As you can see, I die cut them out of Silver Glimmer Paper which I just love – not tried it?  You will LOVE it – like no other glitter paper, it doesn’t shed its glitter when you cut it = no mess!!!

Sarah’s tip – when using glitter papers with your dies, be sure to place the sparkly side face up – that way you get no glitter falling into your die.

I stacked them on top of one another using Dimensionals and added them to my card – the finishing touch is a cute Gumball Green Dahlia (pg 175) in the center to tie in the green layer…

I just love this card – quick & simple to make yet a real eye catcher…

Have fun making your cards this week – and don’t forget to email them to me…I’d love to see your creations and you will get goodies in the mail from me PLUS you could be the next Winner of the Week!
