This is a card that I came up with for a swap for convention…it uses that adorable Under the Stars stamp set featuring a bear and a cute racoon…I couldnt fit both of them on my card so I decided to use the bear on his own…
I love scrapbooking and this spills over into card making as I love to make my own embellishments and when I saw this stamp set I just knew I needed to make a tent…I also love to stamp onto Designer Series Papers – this gives a fab effect that you can see below with the sleeping bags and it also saves coloring in the images :-)
The card base is Night of Navy onto which I stamped the trees in the same colored ink using a stamp from the classic set Lovely as a Tree (pg 110). I then took a piece of Creamy Caramel cardstock and used my Color Spritzer Tool (pg 192) and Creamy Caramel Marker on it to make a speckled effect to resemble dirt – this tool is so easy to use and gives a fab effect – I then tore the top edge and adhered it to the base.
I wanted to make a 3-d tent so figured out my template and cut it out of a piece of Kraft cardstock – I scored 4 lines and folded to make the tent flaps. I attached eyelets onto those flaps and tied through a piece of Linen Thread. I then painted and cut to size some cocktail sticks and tied the other end of thread around them to make tent pegs – I glued these onto the card base using Tombow Multi-purpose Glue. I adhered the tent to the base using tape and Dimensionals under the flaps.
Next I stamped the sleeping bags onto various bits of DSP from Pink Flamingo, Thoroughly Modern and Tall Tales packs – I cut them out and adhered the two side ones with tape and the center one with dimensionals. I stamped the bear onto Close to Cocoa and cut him out – I paper pieced his nose and belly in place and adhered him to the tent – I used tape to secure his lower body and arms and a Dimensional under his head to make him pop out and look like he is coming out of the tent. Finally I stamped the star using Stazon Black Ink onto Brushed Silver cardstock and glued it in place.
Isn’t it cute? I am planning to make some bag toppers using a similar design to package the ingredients for S’mores into for this coming autumn’s annual camp trip – they are sure to bring big smiles :-)
