I am just loving using the brand new sentiment set You’re a Gem that you can find on pg 25 of the Occasions Mini Catalog

It is incredibly versatile and I am finding it perfect for making quick and easy cards for almost any occasion – such as the three below that I made in about half an hour this morning…

Read on for more details about these striking little cards along with a photo of each of them – to view a closer image of each, simple click on the photos…

All my cards are sized 4″ x 4″ and use a beautiful flower as their focal point, which I die cut using my Big Shot and Island Floral Bigz Die (pg 206) – using this die makes it incredibly easy to make fast and dramatic cards…

How big are my layers?  On top of my card base of Whisper White, my first layer measures 3 3/4″ square – I then mat on two white layers sized 3 1/4″ square and 3″ square – I add the top white layer using Dimensionals to give a framed effect and added my flower on to that.

The flower centers are simply stamped using sentiments from the set You’re a Gem and then punched out using the 1 3/4″ Circle Punch.

My first card is black and white…

Very simple but very elegant – and I found the perfect & fitting embellishment to go along with my Queen for a Day sentiment – a Trinket Crown that you can find on pg 24 of the Occasions Mini Catalog – these are beautiful charms and I added mine to this card using a Black Brad.

My second card is a contrast with a blast of color…

Vibrant and fun are the words that spring to my mind!  The color I used is Melon Mambo, even down to the cute flower Designer Button on the lower petal…I added a Pearl from Basic Pearls and a piece of white embroidery floss to complete my look by bringing a little white into my Melon Mambo embellishments.

My third card is more subdued but still has a splash of color to it…

I love using this sentiment with our Basic Rhinestones – it is a perfect fit!  The color I used on this card is Rich Razzleberry which is one of my favorites giving cards a bit of a regal look and added a cute Rhinestone on that top flower for a cute look.

You can find Basic Rhinestones and Basic Pearls on pg 188 of the Catalog – each pack is bargain priced at just $4.95 for 150 pearls/rhinestones in 3 sizes – they are a fabulous way to give your cards some pizzazz at very affordable prices.
