We had a little celebration in the last week and to honor it, I decided to make a happy celebration card using a fun stamp set featured in the Occasions catalog…

That stamp set is called Geometrical and you can find it on pg 26 or online by clicking HERE – it is a set of 12 stamps including triangles, arrows, various shapes and 3 large sentiments…

And EVEN BETTER is that those triangle stamps have a perfectly co-ordinating punch making it super fun & easy to use!  Think it can’t get better than that?  Well it can, so read on for the details!

So here is my card…clean & simple featuring a colorful border…

Isn’t that fun?  And as well as looking fun, it’s also fun to make!

The card base…is Early Espresso onto which I layered a piece of Whisper White.

The banner…is made using 3 triangle stamps from Geometrical and 3 colors of inks – Baked Brown Sugar, Gumball Green and Coastal Cabana – to get a uniform look I kept one color for each triangle design.

Then I punched each triangle out using the co-ordinating Triangle Punch (pg 26 Occasions Catalog), laid them out on my card to get my design correct and then adhered them using SNAIL adhesive…

The sentiment…I love the ‘hooray for today’ stamp in Geometrical and it was just perfect for this card – I stamped it using Early Espresso Ink just beneath my border for a bit of a dramatic look.

The finishing touch…I wanted a little extra something on my card in keeping with a shape theme and found the perfect thing in my pack of Neutrals Candy Dots!  I added an Early Espresso Candy Dot to the center of each O in Hooray and love how that little extra touch looks…

Now I mentioned a little celebration that we had in the last week – I am one of the coaches for my girls Lego Robotics Team (I just LOVE that my girls are little engineers!!!) and they went through to an Invitational Tournament where they competed against 57 of the best FLL teams in Central Texas…

The theme of this year’s competition was Nature’s Fury and so as well as competing in a robot tournament where they program a robot & design attachments for that robot to solve problems on a mat that has obstacles, they also had to choose a natural disaster topic and come up with a research project and a solution to a problem related to it…

Our team chose to research ice storms and specifically how power loss affects a community and they worked on producing a coating for power cables to prevent ice from sticking to them along with a robot to put that coating on…and they won the award for their Research Project!

Check out their cool trophy below…it is even made of Lego…
