I love playing with Designer Washi Tape and today I decided to use some to ‘color in’ some images…
If you haven’t tried Washi Tape, you really should – it is so much fun to use and so forgiving – if you put it in place and then decide that you want it in a different place, you simply pull it off and re-position it – and you can easily tear it too making for some easy & fun project making!
Here is my card with those ‘washi tape colored in’ images…click on the photo for a bigger view…
I love how vibrant and fresh those butterflies look – those patterns that I used on them are both from Retro Fresh This and That Designer Washi Tape (pg 19 Occasions Catalog) – isn’t that a summery look?
The card base…is Tangerine Tango onto which I layered a piece of Whisper White…
The butterflies…I used two different punches to make them – Elegant Butterfly for the large one and Bitty Butterfly for the two smaller ones (both can be found on pg 183) – I punched those shapes out of a strip of White cardstock and trimmed it to size.
The washi tape…I then took two different styles from Retro Fresh This and That Designer Washi Tape, tore off small pieces and positioned them under where I wanted my butterflies to be…
And I then positioned the butterflies over those patterned tapes securing them in place with Dimensionals for a bit of a 3-D look…click on the photo for a bigger view…
The sentiment…I wanted a fresh birthday sentiment and found just what I needed in the set Another Great Year (pg 34 Occasions Catalog) – I stamped it using Early Espresso ink onto the white base layer and think it is the perfect fit for this card…
The finishing touch…it needed a little something extra and I decided on using Candy Dots that I found in Neutrals Candy Dots (pg 171) which I added to the butterfly centers.
I just LOVED using Washi Tape on this card and also came up with another card using Washi Tape from a different collection that I will show you in a few days…but the Retro Fresh tape has to be amongst my favorites – I just love it’s fresh vibrancy!
