Wonderland in Black & Gold…

I took part in a Facebook Hop last evening where our challenge was to make a Christmas Tag…

Well, I wanted to make something a little bit different and decided on an elegant theme so dug out some black & gold cardstocks and got to work…I forgot how much fun it is to create small & quick projects!

Without further ado, here is my elegant tag…

It’s a pretty big tag but I think beautiful and perfect for a special gift…

The base…is made using the a 2″ wide piece of black cardstock that I shaped using the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch for the top edge, and the Banner Triple Punch for the bottom edge – LOVE both of those as they are super versatile…

The ribbon…I threaded through a piece of the gorgeous Gold 5/8″ Satin Ribbon and tied it together using a small bit of Gold 1/8″ Ribbon finishing with a knot in front.  I then added a piece at the bottom and shaped the V shape by folding it in half and using my fabric scissors to make the cut.

The trees…the trees are a stamp featured in the stamp set Wonderland (Holiday Catalog) and are gold embossed onto black card stock – a small sequin star from Metallics Sequin Assortment perches on top of the largest tree.

The gold layer…is (ahem) Brushed Gold card stock which has been discontinued…I didn’t realize this when I made it and only found out when I put together the supply list – oops!  But you can substitute the beautiful Gold Foil Sheets for it instead which would give a beautiful, luxurious look and tie in nicely with that shiny star.

The finishing touch…is the sentiment ‘Joy Peace Love’ – such a sweet stamp and you can find it in the set Christmas Tagables – I stamped it and punched it out using my 3/4″ Circle Punch and added it to the tag using a Dimensional.

I love how this tag turned out and the best bit about making tags is that you can use up your scraps of cardstocks, DSP and ribbons – brilliant!
