Welcome to 3-D Thursday and this week it was my turn to create a little something and with back to school looming on the horizon, I wanted to create a cute way to package some handmade cards that I made for teacher gifts.
Further down this post you will find a link to the FREE Project Sheet that has step by step instructions & color photos that you can save to your computer or print out and have on hand for easy reference PLUS you will find a full list of Supplies used to make this at the end of this post.
And here is my project – it is a Magazine File that holds a set of handmade cards & envelopes…
This would be a cute thing to make for your own desk but it would also make a really sweet teacher gift – going back to school, I love to gift my girls’ teachers a set of cards for them to use during the year and this holder is a cute way to display them…
Plus it’s super simple to make & very budget friendly – all you need is a sheet of 12″ x 12″ cardstock, make 4 score lines, make some cuts, fold & stick together and there you have a Magazine File box ready to decorate!
I used pretty papers from Tropical Escape DSP to cover the box and edged the corners with strips of white to cover the joins…
The label was created using a stamp from Cake Soiree onto layered punched circles and I added brads for a file box look…
All of the plant images that I used on the box and cards are from the Host set Seasoned with Kindness and I colored them using various Stampin’ Blends Markers – here is the image on the other side…
This Magazine File holder comfortably holds 6 cards with envelopes but you could fit more…
To fill my box, I decided to use the same layout for all of the cards to create a common theme and went with three cards in portrait orientation…
And three in landscape…
All of the stamped sentiments on all of the cards are from the sweet set Varied Vases plus the stamped black scallop border underneath the patterned papers is also a stamp from that set – it has quickly become one of my go-to sets!
COME BACK TOMORROW FOR INDIVIDUAL PHOTOS & FULL DETAILS FOR EACH CARD – I didn’t want to create a giant post & overload y’all today so will share all of that with you tomorrow.
Here is one last look at that big beautiful flowering plant image which happens to be my very favorite – so soft and pretty…
This is such a fun project to create AND budget friendly – the basic box is literally just ONE sheet of cardstock and then you can decorate as much or as little as you would like and fill with your cards!
