October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and right now there is pink everywhere! With that in mind I decided to make a pink card that draws inspiration from my friend & neighbor, Diane LeBleu…
Diane is a breast cancer survivor and an amazing gal – not only is she one busy mom of 4, but she is also an inventor – her own experience has led her to design Pink Pockets to help maintain comfort during the post-surgery period – you can read about her story and find her cool Pink Pockets at www.pink-pockets.com
She also has one cute logo featuring polka dots and a theme of black, pink and white and that is where the inspiration for my card has come from…
My card uses the colors Basic Black, Blushing Bride and Whisper White – I made the pink polka dot background by running my pink cardstock through the Big Shot in my Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder (pg 214) and used Textured Basic Black for my mat – adding texture in these ways makes it easy to create ‘wow’ cards…
My beautiful flower image? Is a stamp from the set Just Believe (pg 109) – I stamped it using Versamark Ink onto a piece of white cardstock, sprinkled on Black Embossing Powder, tapped off the excess & heated the embossing powder with my Heat Tool…I love the dramatic effect of using a solid stamp and black embossing powder to create a silhouette effect.
I adhered it using Dimensionals onto my card base and over a piece of Blushing Bride 1/2″ Poly Stitched Ribbon (pg 190) that I tied around and secured with a knot. My tag? I stamped and embossed the word ‘friend’ from the set Fabulous Phrases (pg 149) onto a piece of pink cardstock, punched it out using my 1″ Circle Punch (pg 202) and attached to my ribbon using some white embroidery thread…
Embossing is simple to do and really adds punch to your cards…you can find everything you need to start embossing on pgs 195-196 of the catalog – the Heat Tool, Versamark Ink Pad & Embossing Powders…and if you have any questions please email me and I will be very happy to help.
