Today is St Patrick’s Day and I decided to make a card themed with shamrocks but with a difference…

I was looking at the shape of shamrocks which led me onto thinking about four leaf clovers and then about them bringing good luck…

And with lots of finals & subsequent graduations in the upcoming months, I decided to incorporate all of these into a card wishing lots of luck…because everyone needs to send a good luck card once in a while, right?

And so here it is…

I just LOVE those four leaf clovers…aren’t they cute?  And so easy & fun to make…

The card base…is Gumball Green onto which I layered a piece of Early Espresso….and then a piece of Whisper White.

The grass…made easily using the fabulous Fringe Scissors (pg 31 Occasions Catalog) which I absolutely LOVE!!!  Seriously – if you don’t have them yet, go get them – they are absolutely fantastic and you will wonder how you ever managed without them!

The ribbon…I wanted to create a feeling of my clovers being anchored into the dirt and so I added a strip of 1/4″ Early Espresso Stitched Grosgrain to achieve this and I think it works well!

The four leaf clovers…are made using scraps of Gumball Green cardstock and the Small Heart Punch (pg 183) to create those leaves – I then punched out a green 1/2″ circle and adhered all of the leaves to it to make for easy assembly – two were made of plain cardstock and two were made using Core-dinations cardstock to add some texture – check out the difference below…click on the photo for a closer look…

The three stamped stems…were stamped using a stamp from Summer Silhouettes (pg 127) using Early Espresso Ink – and those cute clover centers are simply Rhinestone Jewels (pg 171) added to each – LOVE those sparkles!!!

The sentiment…I found the perfect ‘Good Luck’ stamp in the set A Fitting Occasion (pg 86) and stamped it in Early Espresso and punched it out using my 1″ Circle Punch (pg 182) – I then added a button from Naturals Designer Buttons (pg 169), threaded through a piece of White Bakers Twine (pg 173) and set it inside the stamped circle.

The finishing touch…I wanted to add an extra four leaf clover to the right side – I decided to make the stem out of a very thin strip of Early Espresso cardstock and ‘tie’ it in place using a knot of ribbon…LOVE how it turned out!

I just love all of the texture on this card – and that Gumball Green is so spring like – I’m sure many of you can’t wait for spring to get here this year!!!
