And it was absolutely breathtaking…

Here is me standing beside the sign that greets you at the entry to Zion National Park…

We intended to visit the day that we arrived but encountered a bit of a problem with that plan…the doors from the airport terminal opened to reveal that it was pouring with rain – torrential rain at that which had caused widespread flooding in southern Utah and Arizona, and so we decided to take our trip to Zion the following day.

You can see from this photo that there was alot of rain here – the river flow was orange from the run-off…

We picked a great day to visit – the rain had stopped and there was low cloud meaning we had great temperatures – the sun came out later in the morning but even then it was very pleasant.  I just love how the clouds hang around the mountains…

We decided to take a hike up to the Emerald Pools – one of the trails was closed due to being washed out by the rain, but there was another way up and here are some samples of the views you see on the way…

And lastly at the top…isn’t it beautiful?

(PS – please forgive my not posting – I have had a few problems connecting this week)

We went to Zion…
