My post today is about the inspiration you can find in the new annual Catalog – if you haven’t already, take a walk through the pages – there are so many amazing ideas to give you inspiration, it’s like a gold mine of creativity!
The card I am showing you today was inspired by a pretty card that I found on pg 45 of the new annual Catalog – once I saw it, I just couldn’t get it out of my head LOL and today was one of those days where I wanted to make some thank you cards quickly & so decided to take that card and tweak it so that I could fit them into envelopes to mail.
And here it is…
Aren’t those colors fun? I think they are so summery which is perfect as today is the last day of the school year here and summer begins! Now it’s not like me to CASE a card – I love to come up with my own ideas but since this card stuck with me, I wanted to share how useful it is to have that Catalog to hand for ideas or for when you need a quick card but can’t think of what to do in a hurry – it happens to us all!
Lemon Lime Twist provides the background and the texture is courtesy of the Petal Burst Embossing Folder. The pink square is a brand new color to the line up called Petal Pink and wrapped around those layers is a piece of the new Whisper White 5/8″ Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon which is gorgeous and sparkly!
The stamped square was cut out using the largest square die in Stitched Shapes Framelits and the stamps I used are ALL from Varied Vases – the vase, leaf and tulips are all cut out with ease using the coordinating Vase Builder Punch.
The tulips were stamped using Flirty Flamingo – I firstly stamped the outlines and then to make the inner color paler, simply inked up my tulip solid stamped, stamped it once onto a piece of scrap cardstock and again inside the outline – easy, fast and a perfect way to get the same color but paler – and because these stamps are photopolymer they are easy to line up!
I used the same technique for the leaf using Lemon Lime Twist Ink and used the Vase Builder Punch to cut them all out and added the flowers with Mini Dimensionals for a 3D look…
Here is a closer look at the embossing and pretty Tulle Ribbon – it actually has sparkles in it and is SUPER pretty in real life!
The vase is stamped with Pool Party Ink and I added a little Pearl to the side. In the set Varied Vases you get five sentiments so that you can easily change what you use on a card like this and use the same design for several different occasions…
And here is one last look at my card, all ready for the mail…pretty!

And here is the card that inspired me…I absolutely love the polka dot ribbon sticking out of the sides but that wouldn’t fit into an envelope easily and so I decided to ‘flatten’ it out. And YES – that Striped Scallops Embossing Folder will be on my next order – I had no idea how pretty it was until I saw this card!
