Just over a week to go to get those Mother’s Day cards and goodies ready – May 8th is around the corner!

Which got me to thinking about creating a card with a little useable keepsake for Mom or Grandma to keep – and I came up with a card that holds a slide out bookmark that you can write something on for Mom to keep and read every time she uses it.

And what better to decorate a Mother’s Day card with than the beautiful and feminine Sneak Peak patterned papers from Paisley Petals DSP – just GORGEOUS papers…

BUT you can only get this beautiful pack of papers until Saturday April 30th – after that date it will be unavailable for order until the new big catalog goes live on July 1st!  Read on for details…

My cardstock colors are Early Espresso and Whisper white and all papers on this card are from Paisley Petals DSP.

I created a pouch with the use of dimensionals and foam mounting tape into which my bookmark slides in and out freely – you can find foam mounting tape in the hardware section in stores such as Target & Walmart.

I used my Scallop Trim Border Punch to create my banner and the sentiment is stamped using a stamp from the set Teeny Tiny Wishes (pg 157) – this is a set truely worth investing in as there is a sentiment for every occasion throughout the year and they are sized perfectly to use with lots of punches…

That flower?  Die cut using my Big Shot and Fun Flowers Die that you can find on pg 39 of the Occasions Mini Catalog (that catalog also retires on April 30th) and textured using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder…click on the photo below for a closer view…

My bookmark?  Slides out of that pouch and made to be size 5 1/4″ x 2″ – I wanted to keep a square look so didn’t shape my corners and added a piece of beautiful Baja Breeze Seam Binding for a touch of luxury…

Slide it out and you will see that I have kept it blank except for a little Love You sentiment at the very bottom – that sentiment is from the set Valentine Defined that you can find on pg 9 of the Occasions Mini.

Now I know lots of you are going to ask me, so I came prepared! I have made a little printable tutorial showing you how to make this bookmark card which you can find by clicking HERE – enjoy!

Why did I not decorate my bookmark with papers and images?  I thought it would be lovely to write a note on there to Mom – every time she uses her bookmark she will read that note and hopefully it will bring a smile to her face…
