Welcome to the Color Fusers Blog Hop for March! We have an interesting set of colors to work with this month and the challenge is that we have to use ALL of these colors on our projects – these shout out Spring to me which is absolutely perfect for this time of year!
I know that lots of you are still in the depths of winter but here in Central Texas the springtime warmth is truly coming out – this past week I have planted all of my summer vegetable plants in ground (including tomatoes & peppers!) and you can see everything greening up – March here is always like magic in the garden!
And so I just had to make a springtime card using these colors and here it is…
The basket of flowers and the ‘you are loved’ stamps are from a BRAND NEW SALE-A-BRATION STAMP SET that you can earn for FREE as part of a bundle through March 31st – it is called the BLOSSOMING BASKET BUNDLE and in it you get BOTH the sweet Blossoming Basket stamp set AND the Basket Weave Dynamic Embossing Folder which I used to make my background on this card – click HERE to find it!
I used all four of those colors but in more of a subtle way this month – we are allowed to use some neutral colors on our projects and this month I chose to use Whisper White, Basic Black and Crumb Cake to set the scene for the ‘guest’ four.
Here is a close up of the sentiment tag…the flowers were colored using Rich Razzleberry Blends Markers and the centers with a Crushed Curry Stampin’ Write Marker. I also used markers to color the leaves Basic Black and Pear Pizzazz…
Here is a close up of the flowers – see that sparkle? I brushed over them with my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush and in real life it REALLY sparkles!
And take a closer look at the basket weave background – my piece of Crumb Cake cardstock was textured using the Basket Weave Dynamic Embossing Folder and to get an even more defined look I simply rolled on some Crumb Cake ink directly onto that folder using a sponge brayer – you then pop your piece of cardstock in, run it through the Big Shot as usual and this is the look you get…
A bit distressed and it really brings out the weave pattern. The ribbon running across the card is Pear Pizzazz 3/8″ Shimmer Ribbon and see that cute heart? It’s an embellishment from Brights Enamel Dots…
Do you see where I used the color Garden Green? I struggled with that one a bit and decided to color the three hearts on the little tag using my Garden Green Stampin’ Write Marker – subtle, but it’s there!
And that doily…I wanted a bit of a lacy look to my card but the doily was not big enough…so I decided to cut it in half and have a bit peeking out each side for just a touch of frill…
I hope you enjoyed my card for today and be sure to take the whole hop by using the buttons below to continue in a circle – you can either go backwards to Barb’s blog or forwards to Paola’s blog – there are A LOT of pretty cards to give you some inspiration!
